Tibetan tales of karma

Extracts from stories read by author Tenzin Wangmo, taken from the book of the same title.

In the evenings, in Tibet in the past as in Europe in the past, stories were told. Here are a few of the most instructive. In these Thousand and One Nights in the Land of Snow, we come across a prince, an extremely loquacious corpse, difficult or comic situations, men and spirits, desires, suffering, happiness, ignorance and wisdom. A whole humanity in which young and old will recognize themselves.

Tenzin Wangmo is Tibetan and has lived in Switzerland since 1974. Interested in all aspects of her country's culture, she collected these tales from her family, and in particular from her father, a former Tibetan government official in exile.
